A Royal Affair
Based on the true story of Queen Caroline of Denmark and her love affair with German doctor Johann Struensee who was her husband's physician. In 1768, Struensee accompanies King Christian VII on a year-long tour of Europe. Queen Caroline is impressed by the doctor and falls in love with him. Slowly, Struensee gains more and more influence and starts implementing reforms, based on his humanistic value system. This leads to his downfall, orchestrated by the aristocracy.
