After completing a prison sentence, Francine settles down in a small town in North America. She desperately tries to regain a foothold in society, but instead, she finds herself moving from one temporary job to the next. Her attempt to integrate into the social fabric of the community also falters as she has difficulty forging long term connections with people. Francine ends up finding comfort in her relationship with animals, but this leads her in a tragically wrong direction.
