The Lady in the Van
THE LADY IN THE VAN is based on Bennett’s true story of Miss Shepherd (played by Maggie Smith), a woman of uncertain origins who "temporarily" parked her van in Bennett's London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. What begins as a begrudged favor becomes a relationship that will change both their lives. Produced by Kevin Loader, Nicholas Hytner and Damian Jones, THE LADY IN THE VAN also stars Alex Jennings as Alan Bennett. The film was photographed by Andrew Dunn, BSC and edited by Tariq Anwar. John Beard was the production designer, Natalie Ward was the costume designer and Naomi Donne created the makeup and hairstyling. The score was composed by George Fenton.
